On the 4th October 1982, a new group, originally known as Pogue Mahone played their first gig. James Fearnley, Shane MacGowan, Spider Stacy and Jem Finer took the stage at The Pindar of Wakefield (now known as The Water Rats) in London’s Kings Cross.
40 years later, to the day, the UK’s leading Pogues tribute band The Pogue Traders are returning to the same venue for a wider celebration of the band’s music and their impact on the world’s music scene. Tickets are now on sale here.
The evening’s celebrations will open with an hour-long Q&A with Shane MacGowan’s official biographer Richard Balls discussing his recent book ‘A Furious Devotion: The Life of Shane MacGowan‘ with Maeve Murphy, award-winning Director and author of “Christmas At The Cross“. Both will be “In Conversation”. Their books will be available to buy and get signed as well !
Supporting The Pogue Traders for the night is from Paul ‘Mad Dog’ McGuinness And Band who toured with Shane MacGowan for almost a decade as a founder member of The Popes.
Exact stage times for each part of the evening are yet to be finalised (Check with venue or Facebook nearer date). Tickets are £15 / £20 On the door.
